Famous People, Familiar Faces

This is a group project, we in a group of 6 are to study the works of master architects and extract their traits and key features. Our selected architect is Tadao Ando and one of his earlier work, Azuma House. We are to create abstraction models to represent all his ideas in the Azuma House which we have analysed and extracted.

Project 2A

Observation Deck

The site that are given is Cape Rachardo at Port Dickson. We are split into 2 groups and I was assigned to group B. In group B, we are then divide into smaller group with 2 members per group. We have to conduct a site analysis on the beach site and the slope site. My group was in Group B, did a research on the beach site.

Based on this assignment, I have learned to interpret and analysis my client’s character and design a simple building type that match my client requirements. I also learned how to play or design the space that shows my client characters. As for the site analysis, I enjoy and learned how to analyse the site.

Project 2B

Retreat House

For the final assignment, students were required to further develop our Project 2a into retreat house at Port Dickson. My given client is an adventurous filmmaker.

Based on this assignment, I have learned to interpret and analysis simple context and client’s character and needs in relation to the design of a small building. I have design a simple building type that match my client requirements and respect the site context and balance both internal (architectural spaces, layout, circulation) and external (aesthetics and forms) design values. Furthermore, I have learned the notion of concepts, program and process in architecture design. Thus, gained knowledge in designing a space, form and function according to the site analysis as well as in architectural design. Besides, I have learned and understand the user specific design requirements and aware of the site specific design and the process of site analysis.
